Residents of South Woodford are celebrating a second victory over Funky Mojoes nightclub at a hearing of the Redbridge Council's Licensing Committee on June 25th.

The nightclub, which is in a residential area, next door to an elderly persons homes, has been opening until 3am some nights of the week for almost a year. Considerable anti social behaviour has disturbed neighbours. The three ward Councillors have worked hard with residents to get the opening hours reduced. Last autumn they convinced the special Licencing review to reduce the hours. but were thwarted when the Council and Mojoes pulled out of an appeal to the local Magistrates Court.

Once again at the latest review LibDem Councillors argued the case for a peaceful life for residents' unfortunate enough to find themselves neighbours of this nightclub that should not have been. At what the local press dubbed a "hard fought day long hearing" the Licensing Committee listened to our arguments and cut back the opening hours and imposed other conditions to reduce the public nuisance.

Predictably Funky Mojoes' management say they will again appeal to the Redbridge Magistrates Court to reverse the decision. The ward Councillors, are fighting to ensure the Council does not back off a court hearing this time.
